Letter to Mr Jorge Marti Martinez ICAP President from the Malta Cuba Society - 29/12/2008
Mr Jorge Marti Martinez
President
ICAP.
Fiftieth Anniversary of The Cuban Revolution.
Dear Friend.
The Malta-Cuba Society congratulates the government and the people of Cuba on the fiftieth anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, and reaffirms our solidarity with Cuban people determined struggle against the reactionary forces operating from the United States.
We wholeheartedly support the international organizations of solidarity with Cuba and do our utmost to contribute morally and materially, to sustain the Cuban people resilience in encountering the economic blockade and underground hostilities.
With another expression of solidarity, our youth section participates in your annual “Jose Marti” international brigade.
We condemn the anti-Cuba activities committed by criminal elements within the Cuban-American community from U.S. territory. Also condemnable are past U.S. Administrations who not only supported these criminal activities but also persisted with a unilateral economic blockade, in spite of repeated annual United Nations resolutions calling for its removal. We auger that with the newly elected US administration, that all this will change, that the new-look Obama administration shall revise the unreasonable and uncivilised policy, towards the people of Cuba.
The Cuban people deserve encouragement, not only for defending the revolution, but also for the expression of true solidarity with other peoples of that region, and for being the avant-garde of the solid progressive movement emerging from Latin America.

Join the IFCO/Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba this July – End the Blockade
In July 2009 the 20th Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba will travel in school
buses,
trucks and cars on 15 different routes to visit more than 130 US and Canadian
cities.
At every stop we will educate people about the blockade while collecting
building
supplies and tools for hurricane reconstruction, as well as medical,
educational
and cultural supplies.
From Texas we travel to Cuba via Mexico. We go without asking for or accepting
a
US government license, as a disciplined collective challenge to the blockade
and
travel ban, and as ambassadors for a People to People foreign policy.
We will spend 9 days in Cuba, in Havana and neighboring provinces, in
fellowship
with our Cuban brothers and sisters. We will attend cultural events and visit
social
projects such as organic farms, homes for the elderly and health centers
including
the Latin American School of Medicine.
We will meet and learn from Cubans at every level about the problems caused by
the
blockade and how they have creatively responded, as well as how they are
rebuilding
after the hurricanes.
Skilled construction workers can opt to spend a week working alongside Cubans
on
a hurricane reconstruction brigade. Hip Hop and related artists are invited to
come
with us on caravan routes to help get our message across via their artistic
medium.
In Cuba there will be opportunities to meet, and perform with Cuban artists.
We then return to Texas via Mexico, proudly declaring our travel to Cuba and
our
opposition to this immoral blockade.
We welcome participants from the countries and solidarity movements of Europe.
