XV International Conference of European Studies - CALL FOR PAPERS
The Center for European Studies (CES) of Havana, Cuba, calls to the 15th International Conference on European Studies, to be held from November 25th to 28th 2008 in the conference rooms at this institution.
From their very first edition in 1993, the International Conferences of European Studies have allowed specialists and social scientists of the most diverse geographical and institutional origins to discuss a wide range of topics related to the current political, economical and social situation of Europe, as well as its impacts on other world areas.
As each of its previous editions, the 15th Conference will be the highest point of scientific activities promoted annually by the CES, especially during this edition dedicated to the Cuban-Europe relationship in a context of the 50th Cuban Revolution Anniversary Triumph.
Participation
In this event could take part professionals, researchers and scholars coming from docent and academic institutions, Cubans and foreigners; parliamentarians, political parties and youth, trade union, women, non governmental and solidarity institutions; and all the interested on subjects related to the suggested themes for the XV Conference or to another current topics about political, economical and social actuality in Europe, included the projections to another world regions.
Inscription
Interested persons can register by e-mailing to the Organizing Committee, before October 1st 2008, filled with their personal data. Participants should afford an individual Conference fee of $80.00 CUC, to be paid at the accreditation desk; it covers participation itself, Conference documents, as well as lunch, snacks during sessions, welcome and farewell cocktails.
Paper proposals should be accompanied by an extract in no more than 250 words. Paper presenters are requested to send the full text of their papers by e-mail to the Organizing Committee, in order to facilitate its translation and as a contribution to the final report of the conference.
During this Conference it would be possible to suggest panels. The proposals should include panel title and a brief rationale, registration form for every paper presenter, as well as titles and abstracts of every paper. As a rule, panels may not exceed four paper presenters and they can include the proposal of a discussant.
The Organizing Committee keeps the right of choosing the papers and panels to be included in the final program of the Conference, of assigning chairmen and/or discussants to panels, and of including other individual participants in the proposed panels.

- The Enlarged EU. Its impact in the political and economical contemporary international relations.
- Convergence and Cohesion: the Socio-economic Dimension in European Integration.
- Transatlantic relations: Between cooperation and competence.
- European Civil Society and its Organisations Facing Global Problems.
- Russia, post soviet space and the Balkans: Internal Challenges, International projection and repercussions.
- Political European map. Its protagonists, national and regional tendencies.
- The EU and its relations with the Third World. Bilateral, biregional and Themes Approaches.
- Europe and the Regional Security. Prospects for European Security and Defence Policy.
- Energy safety and its role in the international political relations.
- European Union policy facing the climate changes: challenges and weakness.
- Kosovo´s issue and its impact in the international relations

Additional interesting information:
- The Conference working languages will be Spanish and English.
- The presentation of paper shall not exceed 15 minutes.
- The Organizing Committee will be open to suggestions related with the Conference agenda and with the holding of other academic activities in the framework of the 15th conference. These may be master lectures, workshops, master conferences, special interventions, round tables among others.
